Stephen Bower

Stephen Bower is a dedicated and versatile professional with a strong foundation in education and athletics. His journey in academia and sports administration has been marked by a commitment to excellence and a passion for mentoring individuals both on and off the field.


Bower earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and in Adolescence Education from Houghton College in May 2012. This dual-degree laid the groundwork for his future commitment and pursuits in education and sports coaching.


Upon completing his degree, Bower embarked on a fulfilling career as a Teacher in the Tolleson Union High School District from 2012 to 2020 at the school where he graduated, Westview High School. During their tenure, they served as a Mathematics Teacher while also taking on various coaching roles. These included head coaching positions for Varsity Boys Soccer, Boys and Girls Cross Country, as well as serving as an assistant coach for Boys and Girls Tennis. His commitment to the holistic development of students shone through his coaching responsibilities, where he not only focused on athletic skill-building but also instilled values of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance.


In 2017, Bower while staying at Westview, was added to the staff of Arizona Christian University, where they continued to expand their influence in soccer coaching. At ACU, Bower functioned as an Assistant Coach for Men’s Soccer and subsequently as Head Coach for Men’s Club Soccer team there. This provided him with opportunities to lead and shape aspiring athletes, contributing significantly to the university's athletic programs.


Bower ultimately moved to the east coast to further advance his career at the University of Valley Forge, taking over the Men’s Soccer Program in June of 2020. Bower also served as the Campus Director, demonstrating leadership and organizational skills in managing campus operations. Bower transitioned well into UVF where he worked hard building the soccer program, where he has excelled in strategizing, recruiting, and fostering a competitive yet nurturing environment for the team.


In July of 2022 Bower moved full time into the Athletics department as the Assistant Director of Athletics and Head Men’s Soccer Coach at the University of Valley Forge. In these roles, they oversee sports programs, mentor coaches, manage fundraising efforts, and implement strategies to enhance recruiting and retention of student-athletes. Their multifaceted responsibilities encompass sport oversight, budgeting, fundraising coordination, and the successful execution of game models and practice schedules. He also continues to teach various courses on campus from Sports Management Courses to P.E. courses and even Math courses.


Bower’s professional journey stands as a testament to their unwavering dedication to his faith, education, athletics, and student development. His leadership, coupled with their strong educational background and work ethic, has not only positively impacted the lives of countless students and athletes but has also contributed significantly to the growth and success of the institutions, departments and programs that he has been a part of.

Josiah Colegrove

In May 2021, the University of Valley Forge Head Men's Soccer Coach Stephen Bower added recent graduate Josiah Colegrove to his coaching staff. Colegrove's coaching career started at an early age as he began coaching in AYSO Soccer in Covington, Pennsylvania from 2012 to 2019. While in college, he continued coaching for Soccer Shots from January 2018 to October 2019. In his Senior Year, his passion for coaching drove him to Windsor Christian Academy where he was the Head Coach of the Middle School Boys team in the Fall of 2020. In that inaugural season for the Highlanders, Colegrove led the team to win the championship.


Originally from Liberty, Pennsylvania, during his time at Valley Forge, Colegrove majored in Sport Management and minored in Business. Colegrove was a Teacher's Assistant for the Sport Management program for the 2018-2019 Academic Year, was a Gym Student Worker from January 2020 to May 2021, and assisted the Sport's Information Director in his Senior Year as both a statistician and public announcer. As a Patriot, Colegrove played for all four years of his collegiate career, appearing in 46 matches and compiling a total of 2,212 minutes of action. In his Senior year for the Patriots, Colegrove wore the armband as he stepped into the role of team captain.
